Sweet Sunday's Yummy Lit Review:
Decadent. Rich. Gorgeous.... and not too sweet.
Oh my goodness, these cookies are so, so, so delicious!
I have always wanted to try Martha Stewart's Chocolate Crackles recipe. Dark, chocolatey-brown cookies with a white layer of confectioners sugar are hard to resist. Really hard. I decided earlier this week that it was finally time for me to beat my no-baking rut and try this cookies on for size.
The recipe for these bad boys can be found here. The recipe is also located in Stewart's (2008) Cookies book (that's what I used).
A few pointers:
1. Forming the dough into balls is a sticky situation. The dough quickly melts from the heat of your hands. I ended up dividing the dough with a knife - simply ripping the pieces of dough apart will leave you with hands smeared in a thick chocolate batter. Once the dough was divided I rolled three balls and then washed my hands and continued on. This takes a while but the final result is the perfect payback for all of your hard work.
2. Get ready to guard these cookies! They are so beautiful and, I may say, taste even better than they look. I currently have mine displayed in a glass cookie jar... but I think they are an endangered species. Their dense, chocolatey taste make these cookies closely resemble little brownies. So yummy and so prone to quickly disappearing from my glass cookie jar!
I hope you all have a Sweet Sunday!
Happy Canada Day!!!!
Looks absolutely delicious! I reckon I could eat about 100 of them in one sitting!
