Sony eReader -- Why?

Just a quick (little) note --

I mentioned in my post how much I *love* my eReader yesterday.
I still do... but it's gone and killed itself.

The touch screen doesn't work anymore and it won't turn off. It did this once before but it didn't last very long. This time, however, it's been over 16 hours of nothingness. So glad we decided on the extended warranty!

Do any of you have the new Sony eReader? Have you ever experienced this problem?

  1. The screen and sleep/off switch on my kobo was a bit finicky when I first got it. I couldn't figure out how to put it to sleep without completely powering it off. But once Mr. T got a hold of it, its like he had the magic touch or something... haven't had a problem since lol. That sucks for you though!! :(

    1. That's good! So handy to have a tech expert in the house :)
I have my fingers crossed that they give me a new one as its not past the return date on the receipt... otherwise it goes to Sony for a fix-up I suppose.

  2. How frustrating. I haven't jumped into the e-reader pool yet.

    1. I think that's smart - it's probably best to wait to buy one until most of their bugs have worked themselves out... That said, they are an awesome tool!

  3. Hi: I'm coming through from the book blogger hop... I don't have a SONY reader, but I have a Kindle and it has frozen up on me more times than I can count. A couple things I've learned 1) (if it starts working again or you get a new one) - turn it "off" meaning to screen saver before you carry it around or put it in a place where the cover might get some pressure - random key presses freeze it up, 2) I've had luck with recharging it to get it unlocked/unfrozen - plug it in and let it sit overnight. Kindle's send themselves on lengthy searches of all your materials with these random presses and they get locked up doing all that hard work. Hope things work out on it, happy reading, Ruby

    1. Hi there :) Thanks for stopping by and the advice. I've noticed that the keys are activated at the slightest touch too - even through the case its in. Fingers crossed both of our eReaders sort themselves out!
