But, I have a confession. I had no clue it was International Women's Day until a few short hours ago. I feel ashamed... slightly. For, while I think it is great to recognize women's issues, I also think it is important to recognize the problems that all genders encounter. Equality for all, right?
On this day-of-all-days (grad school acceptance and International Women's Day) I would like to share my favourite non-fiction writer, Jessica Valenti, with you.
I've blogged about Valenti's work before. I absolutely love her crass honesty and desire to get down to a grassroots level to confront issues of gender. If you want to gain a better understanding of what Feminism really is about, and not just all those big negative stereotypes, read any of her books. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Also, I stumbled across this fitting Youtube video today. I find the UK has been producing commercials such as this for awhile now:
Happy International Women's Day!
LMFAO! you are not alone, I didn't either! heheheh :P
