Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

This week at Jennifer's Crazy-for-Books' Book Blogger Hop we are asked:

If you could physically put yourself into a book or series... which one would it be and why?

A: I have to say J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.

Why Potter?

For starters, its based in the UK. If I could put myself anywhere in the world, fictionally speaking, it would have to be England. My excitement for my soon-to-be visit to the land of E may be influencing me here, though...

It's not only England that makes me want to take part in the Potter series. If I'm going to be placed into a book, I'd like it to be as far away from reality as possible. Why think about doing your favourite character's activities when you know you can do it right here in the real world? The idea of being capable of casting spells and periodically becoming invisible is definitely an interesting and fun prospect.

But, there is the whole problem of the Dark Arts. I'm pretty sure I'd like to stay away from the seventh book's environment. I'm not too keen on the thought of snakes jumping out of people's bodies, dementors, and whatnot.

To make a long answer short - Potter, please. Preferably once Harry and Voldemort have settled things once and for all.

Thanks for stopping by! Leave a comment or follow and I'll be sure to come visit your blog as well :)

Take care & Happy Friday!!

  1. Not sure if my comment posted but I was saying I agree!! Would love to be in a fantasy world like Narnia but would be too afraid to be in the HP series at any point past the first book!! Hehe :)

  2. I totally agree about wanting to read in settings that are not reality. Harry Potter is my pick too. Even book seven sounds exciting, though pretty terrifying! The being able to be invisible part is something I'd definitely want to try out.

  3. Potter was one of my choices as well. I didn't include it as a reasoning, but the fact that it's set in England (which I really want to travel to) is a big pull as well.

Cool site! Found it on the hop and I'll be adding it to my list. Hope you check mine out as well. Tedious & Brief

  5. I love it- I really considered this series, but decided that the climatic scenes at the end are too much for my little heart to handle! I like the idea of waiting until things settle down.

    Following you back! :)

  6. Harry Potter is actually terrifying if you think about it. Rowling did a good job of making it so entertaining. Have fun in England! I did a year of University there and it was amazing. You think you love it now, wait until you go there. I miss it loads.

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm following back.

Have fun in England! I went two years ago and I'm trying to get back there as soon as I can. Make sure to go to Hampton Court if you are anywhere near London. That place is AMAZING!

I hate to admit this, but I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books (shame on me), but I can definitely see why you would jump right into any of them. It would probably be a blast!

    Have a great weekend!

  14. I agree that it would have to be post-Voldy, otherwise...yikes. However, I would be willing to pay a lot of money for the ability to apparate. My life would be SO much easier.

Stopped by via the Blogger Hop and love your site!

  16. I didn't pick Harry Potter because of all the things that you mentioned. I agree thought it would be fun after the drama of book 7 is over.

  17. Apologies in advance for my answer this week as it will not immediately resonate with the book blogger population which happens to be 99.5% female.

My choice is a book series geared towards guys which won’t enthrall the vast majority of my fellow book bloggers (who are almost entirely female) with the extensive discussion of powerful weapons and sexy milspec gear, beautiful women, eye-popping action sequences (with occasionally obscene violence), and the like.

But there IS something in my answer that just about everyone of the female persuasion can benefit from my decidedly “books for guys” post. Hop on over to http://www.howardsherman.net to find out what it is.

    Happy Hop Friday!

  20. I forgot about Harry Potter-ville in my early morning musings when I wrote my post. Though I picked Lord of the Rings (after the whole defeating Sauron thing), so really not that far off. I think that it would be amazing to go to Hogwarts-even the Lego version on my Wii was pretty exciting to interact with :)

  21. I SO agree with HP, I'd love to be in a magical world. And I didn't even THINK about the British accents! I would love that!

  22. The last 5 blogs I have visited today all picked Hogwarts. :-)

That was clever thing to say. Half the blog I visited picked Harry Potter too, including me, but nobody thought of Voldemort.

  33. I find it interesting that so many folks picked settings that they would only wish to live in post-conflict...And yet I'll bet that the narratives are - in part - what drew them to those fictional worlds. What might that say about us book bloggers and conflict?
Just wondering on this early morning... And I chose a nearly conflict-free universe as well, so I'm truly interested in this phenomenon...

  35. Hi!
This was going to be my choice as well, but I have to agree with the other commenters who have concerns about their personal safety as the books progress.Lol!

Skirting the fine line between life and death would seriously start to take it's toll by book 3-see how cranky Harry got? Lol!

I have given my alternate answer on my blog: http://allthebookswelove.blogspot.com/2011/03/book-blogger-hop-250311-280311.html#links
